There are moments in life where one is pushed to the brink. One may have tried every possible option and failed each time. One may have asked every possible person for assistance, yet was left to one’s own devices. You may have spent all of the money that you have and was left with nothing. A series of unfortunate events can leave you feeling helpless and alone. All of us have or will experience this at some point in our lives.
Jairus in the text had been pushed to the brink. His daughter was helplessly sick with no cure in sight. She was dying and he knew it. I can imagine that he tried all that he could, but was left without no choice but to go and seek out Jesus for her healing. Even when she was considered dead, his faith continued to rely on Jesus to restore his family where they needed to be.
