Holy Week 2019

We have entered Holy Week, the most important week in the life of the church. We take time to reflect on the journey that Jesus took the days leading up to His crucifixion and resurrection. So many images and thoughts come to our mind as we think about the remaining hours Jesus spends with His followers.

The last supper. Washing the disciple’s feet. The plotting of the Pharisees. The betrayal of Judas. Watching, and praying in the garden. Jesus arrested. Mocked. Beaten. Crucified. Our sin. Our shame. He took it all. Freely. For us. One so undeserving extended grace and provided a way out of the darkness. This was Friday. But Sunday’s coming.

Take time to reflect. Gather together to remember and celebrate.

He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.
Yet it was our weaknesses he carried; it was our sorrows that weighed him down. And we thought his troubles were a punishment from God, a punishment for his own sins!
But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.
Isaiah 53:3-5 NLT
