50 Bible Verses About Money and Financial Blessing

By Rev. Nicholas S. Richards

Money is one of the most frequently discussed topics in the Bible. Jesus spoke about money and possessions more than He spoke about heaven and hell combined. Why? Because God understands that how we handle our finances reveals the true condition of our hearts. Money itself is not evil—it is a tool that can be used to advance the Kingdom of God, bless your family, and serve your community. But it must be handled with wisdom, generosity, and an awareness of God's principles.

Whether you are facing financial hardship, seeking wisdom for stewardship, or believing God for financial breakthrough, these 50 Bible verses about money and financial blessing will provide both instruction and encouragement. I have organized them into categories that address different aspects of your financial life. Read them prayerfully, apply them practically, and watch how God begins to transform your relationship with money.

God as Your Provider

Before we discuss any principles of stewardship, we must establish the most important truth about money: God is your source. Not your job, not your investments, not your savings account—God. When you anchor your financial confidence in Him, you are building on a foundation that cannot be shaken by market fluctuations, layoffs, or economic downturns.

1. Philippians 4:19 — "And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."

Notice that Paul does not say God will supply according to the economy's capacity or your employer's budget. He supplies according to His riches in glory—an inexhaustible, unlimited, heavenly supply.

2. Matthew 6:31-33 — "Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."

3. Psalm 37:25 — "I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread."

4. Deuteronomy 8:18 — "And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth."

5. Psalm 23:1 — "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want."

6. 2 Corinthians 9:8 — "And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."

7. Genesis 22:14 — "And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide."

8. Psalm 34:10 — "The young lions lack and suffer hunger; but those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing."

9. Isaiah 58:11 — "The Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy your soul in drought."

10. Luke 12:24 — "Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?"

Wisdom and Stewardship

God does not simply hand us money and expect us to spend it without thought. He calls us to be wise stewards of every resource He places in our hands. Biblical stewardship means managing God's resources according to God's principles—and it covers everything from budgeting and saving to investing and giving.

11. Proverbs 21:5 — "The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty."

12. Proverbs 22:7 — "The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender."

This verse is not a condemnation of all borrowing, but it is a warning. Debt can become a form of bondage that limits your ability to follow God's leading and be generous with others. Pursue financial freedom so that you can live and give without restriction.

13. Proverbs 13:11 — "Wealth gained by dishonesty will be diminished, but he who gathers by labor will increase."

14. Proverbs 27:23-24 — "Be diligent to know the state of your flocks, and attend to your herds; for riches are not forever."

15. Proverbs 10:4 — "He who has a slack hand becomes poor, but the hand of the diligent makes rich."

16. Luke 16:10 — "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much."

17. Luke 14:28 — "For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it?"

18. Proverbs 24:27 — "Prepare your outside work, make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterward build your house."

19. Ecclesiastes 11:2 — "Give a serving to seven, and also to eight, for you do not know what evil will be on the earth."

20. Romans 13:8 — "Owe no one anything except to love one another."

The Power of Generosity and Giving

One of the most counterintuitive principles in Scripture is that giving leads to receiving. The world says hoard and accumulate. God says give and it shall be given to you. This is not a prosperity trick—it is a kingdom principle that activates the flow of blessing in your life.

21. Luke 6:38 — "Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."

22. Proverbs 11:25 — "The generous soul will be made rich, and he who waters will also be watered himself."

23. Malachi 3:10 — "Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it."

This is the only place in Scripture where God invites us to test Him. He is so confident in the principle of tithing that He says, "Try Me." If you have never tithed, I encourage you to take God at His word and watch what happens.

24. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 — "But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver."

25. Acts 20:35 — "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

26. Proverbs 3:9-10 — "Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine."

27. 1 Timothy 6:18-19 — "Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come."

28. Psalm 112:5 — "A good man deals graciously and lends; he will guide his affairs with discretion."

29. Deuteronomy 15:10 — "You shall surely give to him, and your heart should not be grieved when you give to him, because for this thing the Lord your God will bless you in all your works."

30. Matthew 6:3-4 — "But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly."

Warnings About the Love of Money

While God desires to bless you financially, Scripture is equally clear that the love of money is dangerous. The pursuit of wealth for its own sake can lead to spiritual destruction, broken relationships, and a hardened heart. These verses serve as guardrails to keep your financial life aligned with God's purposes.

31. 1 Timothy 6:10 — "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."

32. Matthew 6:24 — "No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon."

33. Hebrews 13:5 — "Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'"

34. Proverbs 23:4-5 — "Do not overwork to be rich; because of your own understanding, cease! Will you set your eyes on that which is not? For riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away like an eagle toward heaven."

35. Mark 8:36 — "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?"

36. Ecclesiastes 5:10 — "He who loves silver will not be satisfied with silver; nor he who loves abundance, with increase."

37. Proverbs 28:22 — "A man with an evil eye hastens after riches, and does not consider that poverty will come upon him."

38. James 5:1-3 — "Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten."

39. Luke 12:15 — "Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."

40. Matthew 19:24 — "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

Promises of Financial Blessing and Prosperity

When your heart is right and your stewardship is faithful, God delights in prospering you. These final verses are declarations of God's desire to bless you financially—not so you can hoard it, but so you can be a blessing to others and advance His kingdom on the earth.

41. Jeremiah 29:11 — "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope."

42. Joshua 1:8 — "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."

43. Psalm 1:1-3 — "Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly... He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper."

44. Proverbs 10:22 — "The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it."

45. Deuteronomy 28:12 — "The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow."

46. Psalm 35:27 — "Let them shout for joy and be glad, who favor my righteous cause; and let them say continually, 'Let the Lord be magnified, He has pleasure in the prosperity of His servant.'"

47. 3 John 1:2 — "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."

48. Isaiah 48:17 — "Thus says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: 'I am the Lord your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you by the way you should go.'"

49. Psalm 66:12 — "You have caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water; but You brought us out to rich fulfillment."

50. Deuteronomy 28:8 — "The Lord will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the Lord your God is giving you."

How to Apply These Verses to Your Financial Life

Reading these verses is an important first step, but application is where transformation happens. Here are several ways to put these scriptures into practice:

Create a biblical budget. Use the principles of stewardship found in these verses to guide how you allocate your income. Prioritize tithing, eliminate unnecessary debt, build an emergency fund, and give generously.

Memorize key verses. Choose five to ten verses from this list that speak directly to your current financial situation. Memorize them so that when worry or temptation arises, you have the Word of God readily available to combat it.

Pray these scriptures over your finances. Turn these verses into daily prayers. For example: "Lord, Your Word says You give me the power to get wealth. I receive that power today. Open my eyes to opportunities, give me wisdom to steward them well, and let my finances glorify You."

Teach your children. Financial literacy rooted in biblical wisdom is one of the greatest gifts you can give the next generation. Share these verses with your children and help them build a faith-based relationship with money from an early age.

Join a community of accountability. Find or create a group of believers who are committed to biblical financial principles. Share your progress, encourage one another, and hold each other accountable to the standard God has set in His Word.

A Final Thought

God is not intimidated by your financial situation. He is not anxious about your bills, your debt, or your income. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills (Psalm 50:10), and His resources are limitless. What He asks of you is simple: trust Him, obey His principles, give generously, and watch as He proves Himself faithful.

Your financial breakthrough may be one act of obedience away. It may come through a tithe you have been hesitant to give, a debt you commit to paying off, or a prayer you have not yet prayed. Whatever it is, take that step today. God is ready to meet you there.
